Tierra's Elphaba

Sometimes breeding alpacas is predictable....sometimes it is not. Sometimes it is more like Forest Gump's box of chocolates....you never know what you're going to get until you bite into one.

Elphaba was quite a surprise! I knew that her dam, Anasazi would probably throw color when bred to color, so I chose our 3X color champion, Tierra's Maximus, who is a fawn with a black gene.

We definitely got some color! "Elphie" is as cute as she can be with a pretty head and full top knot. She has good conformation and a dense, fine fleece. Her blanket is bay black, her neck is dark silver grey and white and the picture explains the rest.

I'm not sure who we will breed her to this fall, but I am considering Magnus who is a dark brown male with a black gene. I'm not even going to try to guess what the cria will look like!
